Supply Chain Due Diligence Policy

Sweetspot Sourcing is committed to responsible tin sourcing and supporting efforts to avoid contributing to conflict or human rights abuses in conflict-affected and high-risk areas (CAHRAS). 

 

At Sweetspot Sourcing, we work with many leading Irish and Global brands producing bespoke products for retail or promotional purposes.  

 

In line with EU Regulation 2017/821 and the OECD Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Supply Chains of Minerals from Conflict-Affected and High-Risk Areas, we have developed this policy to guide our procurement practices and help ensure the integrity of our supply chain. 

This policy applies to all tin imported or used by Sweetspot and to all employees and suppliers involved in sourcing and using this material. We are committed to assessing and managing risks associated with our supply chain. 

 

Sweetspot will not knowingly source tin from any party involved in: 

  • Serious human rights abuses 
  • Direct or indirect support to non-state armed groups 
  • Unlawful taxation or extortion of miners or transporters 
  • Corruption, money laundering, or other illegal activities 

 

We expect our suppliers to uphold similar standards and to engage in due diligence to ensure responsible sourcing. 

 

We follow a simplified five-step approach inspired by the OECD guidance: 

  1. Establish strong company management systems 
  • Assign responsibility to Fiona Craul  
  • Maintain records of all tin imports and suppliers. 
  • Incorporate this policy into supplier contracts where applicable. 
  1. Identify and assess risks in the supply chain 
  • Request and review information on the origin of tin. 
  • Identify smelters/refiners where possible. 
  • Evaluate supplier practices and the countries of origin. 
  1. Design and implement a strategy to respond to risks 
  • Suspend or terminate engagement with suppliers involved in high-risk or non-compliant practices. 
  • Work with suppliers to improve traceability and risk awareness. 
  1. Carry out third-party audits of supply chain due diligence 
  • While we do not currently conduct audits, we prioritise working with suppliers that use audited smelters/refiners recognised by initiatives like the Responsible Minerals Assurance Process (RMAP). 
  1. Report annually on supply chain due diligence 
  • We will document our due diligence actions internally and provide updates as needed to relevant authorities or stakeholders.
